Job Odyssey ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Job Odyssey platform at jobodyssey.mpgink.com and the Job Odyssey Capture browser extension. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What We Collect
Account information — email address and password (hashed) when you create an account.
Profile data — resume text, job preferences, and career criteria you enter into the platform.
Job data — job postings you capture or that are discovered by the scraper on your behalf, including job descriptions, company names, and fit scores.
Usage data — which features you use, error logs, and API call counts used to operate and improve the service.
Browser extension — when you use the Job Odyssey Capture extension, it reads the text content of the job posting page you are currently viewing and sends it to our servers for processing. We do not collect browsing history, passwords, or data from pages you visit outside of an explicit capture action.
How We Use Your Data
To score job postings against your resume using AI (Anthropic Claude API).
To discover relevant job postings from company career pages on your behalf.
To provide company intelligence and contact information via third-party APIs (Hunter.io).
To operate, maintain, and improve the platform.
To communicate with you about your account and the service.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Job Odyssey:
Supabase — database and authentication (supabase.com)
Anthropic — AI scoring via Claude API (anthropic.com)
Hunter.io — professional contact lookup (hunter.io)
Vercel — hosting and deployment (vercel.com)
Adzuna — job listing data (adzuna.com)
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data necessary to provide each service.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security. Resume text and personal data are accessible only to your authenticated account. We do not sell your data to third parties.
Browser Extension
The Job Odyssey Capture extension requests the following permissions:
activeTab — to read the current page's URL, title, and text content when you click the capture button.
scripting — to extract job description text from the active tab.
storage — to store your capture token locally in the browser so you don't need to re-enter it.
The extension only activates when you explicitly click the capture button. It does not run in the background, does not track your browsing, and does not collect data from pages you do not capture.
Your Rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
You can export your job data from the platform.
You can revoke the browser extension's access by uninstalling it or resetting your capture token.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will note the date of the last update at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
